Dear Members
This month all too soon the clocks will be changing, which for me heralds the beginning of the winter routine with our Triumphs and “Second Strings”.
The winter activities dictated by the restricted daytime hours usually means shorter runs but also much more tinkering in the man cave.
The main event of this past year was the highly successful Annual Rally / Triumph Picnic at Woodland Grange where, at the AGM our Committee Member’s new roles were ratified. The Committee member’s new positions in the Club may be seen on the inside front cover of the recent issue #395 of the Club magazine.
Many of you may have noticed that missing from the list this year is David Thomas. Before moving to Portugal, David & Jane were involved with the smooth running of the Club for many years, organising many Club events and fulfilling the role of PR & Press Officer for quite some time. In 2021 David was awarded the MBE on the New Years Honours List for his services to the Portuguese Safe Communities Department & he is also heard on the local radio broadcasting around the Algarve. It is because of these truly laudable commitments that David & Jane have taken the decision to step down from their major role; but we are pleased that David continues to serve as Regional Representative for Portugal, Spain, France, Italy & Gibraltar. I’m sure all of us would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for their sterling work and input over the years, and hoping to meet up in the not too distant future.
Also, our long standing Registrar and Librarian, Graham Shipman has now after many years of dedicated service now handed the reins of librarianship to Roger Janson, but still retained the role of Club Registrar. Graham’s amazing trilogy : “Triumph Motor Cars Family Photo Albums” is always a source of great enjoyment to myself and must have taken countless hours to research & compile. The Triumph registrations that Graham has now recorded now exceeds 8,500 – this is around 25% of the Triumph total Pre-war production.
Our remaining Club involvement for 20224 is the Lancaster Classic Motor Show at the NEC which is Friday 8th – Sunday 10th November (Stand 5-438). For a discount code on tickets, visit the Events page of the website.
In the meantime let’s keep our fingers crossed for a St Luke’s Summer, sometimes happens around mid-October.
Regards to all
Martyn Denni
