Carole Nash Restoration Show at Stoneleigh – Sunday 23rd October 2016
This year all club stands were limited to 4 cars, and whilst the organisers preferred to have ‘Live’ restoration work being carried out on the stands, they were happy to accept ‘work in progress’ cars too. Again, this year Martin Johnson-Howe’s Triumph Gloria Vitesse and Brain Bromwich’s Dolomite Roadster took pride of place on our stand, but we were also joined by Brian Bishop with his newly restored Gloria Vitesse Tourer. The work in progress car was Martin Johnson-Howe’s Triumph Gloria 14 Six Light Saloon ACL 991.
ACL 991 is currently undergoing a complete overhaul which started in February 2014, and we’re now at the stage of preparing the body for painting now that the running boards have been replaced as well as repairs now complete to the wings. The seats have been re-upholstered and currently take pride of place in the dining room, and door cards on top of the wardrobes! We have decided the colour scheme will be black over primrose and it is anticipated ACL 99L will be driven to the Annual Rally at Wroxall in June 2017.
The show was not as well attended as previous years by both car clubs and traders which was disappointing. My thanks go to Dave Stansfield for transporting ACL 991 in it’s current state!
